What Is Chiropractic?
The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to restore proper function and communication within the nervous system. Misalignments in the spine, known as subluxations, can interfere with nerve signals, leading to symptoms like fatigue, brain fog, emotional instability, and chronic pain.
An adjustment corrects these misalignments by applying a specific force that helps the brain re-establish a more functional and stable connection to the affected area. This improves nerve flow and enhances the body's ability to communicate with its various systems. When the nervous system communicates more efficiently, the body adapts better to environmental stressors—whether physical, chemical, or emotional. This increased adaptability helps reduce dysfunctional patterns such as fatigue, difficulty focusing, brain fog, and chronic pain. By optimizing nervous system function, chiropractic care supports the body’s innate ability to heal and perform at its best.
How Does Stress Affect Your Nervous System?
1
Physical
This includes factors like injury, poor posture, repetitive strain, and physical trauma. Physical stress can cause misalignments in the spine, which may lead to nerve interference. This interference can result in pain, restricted movement, and impaired communication between the brain and body. The nervous system's response to physical stress often includes heightened sensitivity and muscle tension, which can perpetuate discomfort and dysfunction.
2
Emotional
Emotional stress triggers the body's "fight or flight" response, which involves the release of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. Chronic emotional stress can lead to overstimulation of the nervous system, affecting its ability to regulate physiological processes. This can result in symptoms such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and physical manifestations like muscle tension and headaches. Emotional stress can also impair the nervous system's ability to manage and recover from other types of stress.
3
Chemical
Chemical stressors include exposure to toxins, pollutants, and imbalances in diet or medication. These stressors can disrupt the nervous system by affecting neurotransmitter function and overall brain chemistry. Chemical stress can lead to imbalances that influence mood, cognitive function, and overall neurological health. Chronic exposure to harmful chemicals can also impair the nervous system’s ability to maintain homeostasis and adapt to other stressors.
